Meet Michelle.
I was previously a lawyer for four years' before moving into consulting. I decided not to do an MBA and instead joined Bain & Company as a lateral (experienced) hire.
I was drawn to consulting for two main reasons -
Professionally:
I was in a front-end transactional team in law and found that the legal lens I was involved in was only a sliver of the broader business problem the company was transacting in. During this time, I worked alongside a consulting firm and it was then that I realised the value of working day-in day-out at the client site, in terms of being completely entrenched in their business and being able to work in the guts of challenging and complex problems.
Personally:
I'm huge people person and consulting day to day, is all about brainstorming with your team, leveraging different perspectives and that is one of the most energising parts of the job for me.
The transition from law to management consulting has been really fulfilling so far and I've had no-regrets. While you naturally have to learn a lot about a new way of doing things and thinking as well as un-learn some things about your old ways of doing; I've found I've been able to leverage a lot of my previous experience in law (especially from the client relationship perspective) and combine it with what I'm learning at Bain to date.

“There are three things I'm really passionate about at work that Bain allows me to do:
1. Working on the culture within the office
2. Leading the BGLAD (LGBTI) group and
3. Mentoring, both upwards and downwards”

Meet Victoria.
Victoria started her career in consulting and most recently worked in advertising.
“The support I received from Bain transitioning from industry to consulting was really great.
Bain is aware that it takes time to adjust and they crafted a program around that - I had a mentor, industry buddy and ontop of that, had normal training and industry training sessions.”
Kristina worked in consumer goods as a Brand Manager for almost 5 years' before joining Bain.
